Dive equipment

Basic pieces of dive equipment include: a mask, fins, suit, and snorkel. These are all essential for a safe and fun underwater adventure. Another piece of gear that is essential for diving is a breathing device. A breathing device will help a diver to breath underwater when an air supply is unavailable.

Some types of dive equipment should be custom fit for individual divers. Custom fitting is necessary for masks, fins, and suits. But it is also optional for all of the other types of scuba diving equipment.

Custom fitting of dive equipment can be done in most specialty shops. Some dive shops also offer this service. However, custom fits are more difficult to complete when gear is purchased on the Internet.
